Heat, humidity, and a bent disc

That's what I got Sunday at the Memorial Classic. Very cool course, lots of tight single track with nice berms, log piles, and fast down hills. I didn't even mind the heat... until this
wait, here's a better angle...

OK, now I’m no mechanic, but I don’t think I should be able to see the side of my disc while looking at the edge of it. Anyway, that might explain why it felt like I was going uphill the whole friggin’ way. Oh, and the extremely annoying metal on metal grinding sound. Hmm…going have OOOBS see if they can figure it out.

The best part is that it happened about ½ way into the first lap so I had plenty of time to get used to the extra effort of turning my wheel. Mostly I just thought about $ signs as I wondered whether I tweaked my $750 wheelset or the $850 frame. “Ahh, its nothin’, keep moving,” said the devil on my shoulder. “And don’t mind the blood gushing out of your leg either. It’s only a flesh wound. If you weren’t such a ninny you would have cleared that ¾ inch log and wouldn’t be cryin’ about it now.”

I did finish…finally. First time I wanted to hurl afterward. Oh, and my head hurt. It was pounding actually. All for the glory of MNSCS racing!

tee-hee. funny the thoughts that run through our head during a race.

Way to finish strong!
